In 2023, the CoBrA collection found a permanent home in the CoBrA Depot.
The name CoBrA still resonates strongly. What began after the Second World War as a joint adventure between artists from Copenhagen, Brussels, and Amsterdam grew into an art movement that remains vibrant to this day. The CoBrA Depot brings this movement to life with paintings, sculptures, drawings, poems, and graphic works including Karel Appel, Corneille, and Asger Jorn.
CoBrA art often brings joy, but it is much more than that. Its vitality, spontaneity, and the artists’ experiments awaken curiosity. In the postwar period, disillusioned by shattered expectations, they were determined to take a new path together, in a spontaneous way. Precisely for this reason, the CoBrA movement is as relevant today as ever: back, without ever having left.
