HeadquARTers

ART in HeadquARTers

HeadquARTers is the beating heart of the logistics service provider Katoen Natie. This globally operating group is Flemish and based in Antwerp.

Art used to be a part of everyday life. It was found in churches and castles, in mansions and palaces, in courtrooms and town halls. HeadquARTers, a creation of the architectural duo Robbrecht and Daem, renews the tradition of bringing art to life, creating symbiosis between entrepreneurship, architecture, art, and history.

HeadquARTers is composed out of four nineteenth-century warehouses, two art nouveau houses and a new construction project, integrated into an original and functional whole. Old brick and wooden warehouse vaults were brought together with concrete, glass and steel structures. The result is a building bathed in a sea of light and space.

The headquarters of Katoen Natie has therefore become a special and authentic work environment. The old warehouses have been transformed into an attractive and original workplaces and each space is different from the next. This is also due to the surprising presence of art, which inspires and stimulates the informal meeting between employees.
The adjoining art nouveau house houses a stylish private restaurant. Here business dinners take place in a quiet setting, surrounded by works by Gustave van de Woestyne, Jan Toorop, Emile Claus, Edgard Tytgat,…

Various exhibitions can be seen in HeadquARTers. The permanent exhibition “3500 Years of Textile Art”, one of the most beautiful exhibitions of old fabrics in the world, is housed in its own museum. The objects are almost imperceptibly carried by light and glass protections, and the colors of the halls and showcases have been chosen so carefully that they almost disappear into the whole. This makes the collection more serene and at the same time more lively in atmosphere. In addition, the exhibition "Rascals & Rebels" adorns the corridors of the head office, with Belgian and international contemporary art. Finally, the Cobra Depot will be opened and can be visited as from May, 2023.

HeadquARTers is happy to open its doors for you, by appointment only.
